Individual Counselling

My initial training in counselling was both person-centred and psychodynamic. However, I have developed a flexible approach to my work which integrates a range of orientations to meet the individual needs of my clients.

The aim of counselling is to increase awareness, discover choices and develop skills to make changes in your life that feel right for you.

Counselling can help you if you feel stuck with an issue, wish to reflect on your life from a new perspective, or a stressful situation or traumatic event has left you feeing vulnerable and struggling to cope.

You can also use counselling to work on a current life event, something that has been troubling you for some time or simply to generally understand yourself better. I will help you to explore issues and better understand your situation, thoughts and emotions more fully and with greater clarity, leading to new insights and a greater sense of empowerment and control.

Couple Counselling

I trained as a Couple Counsellor with the London Marriage Guidance Council which has since become the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships.

In couple counselling my aim is to help you both think about your relationship and to better understand its dynamics and help you resolve some of the conflict and tensions. The process will enable you to better understand yourselves, each other and how you relate together. I can also help you both move forward in the way you feel is best for you.

What to expect

In the first session you will have the opportunity to think about what brought you to counselling and what you want from further sessions. You will also have the chance to ask any questions. It will be a mutual assessment of whether you feel comfortable working with me and whether I feel I am able to help you. If I should feel that I am unable to provide you with the help you need, we will then discuss the best way forward for you. If you decide to continue then we will agree on the terms of how the counselling will proceed.

I aim to provide a safe and confidential place for you to talk and feel understood, respected and supported.

My sessions are for 50 minutes and can be on either short-term or open-ended. I normally see people for weekly appointments but I can be flexible with regard to frequency.

Day and evening appointments are available.
